Ben appointed as Head of Maintenance

Head of Maintenance

We are delighted to announce that we’ve appointed Ben Larson as Head of Maintenance! Ben has been with us for four years and helps look after the grounds and Hall.

Ben was given the promotion from his job as Maintenance Engineer after our previous Head of Maintenance moved to new pastures. We were very pleased when Ben said he would take the step up.

Ben, a local resident his whole life, has had a varied career including working as a ground worker, delivery driver and farmhand before coming to work at Ellingham Hall. Not only does he look after the Hall and grounds but also looks after its sister venue Lemmington Hall too.

We caught up with Ben to find out how he is finding his new role. He said: “I really enjoy working at Ellingham Hall. I love the fact every day is different. At the moment I’m fitting new door locks, but last week I was decorating three bedrooms and fitting new windows.
“It’s a lovely place to work, in fact it’s the best place I’ve worked. I fix most things along with the maintenance team, including plumbing. As well as the fabric of the building, we’re responsible for the security and safety of guests and staff here.”

As an essential part of the team that works behind the scenes, we were delighted when Ben agreed to be promoted. Like the rest of our family, he’s a hard worker and we are thrilled that he enjoys his work.

Ellingham Hall is the most stunning venue, and we knew it was the one for us the moment we stepped inside. We travelled around 3 hours in search of the perfect venue, and after a long search without finding “”the one,”” Ellingham instantly stood out. The staff are absolutely amazing, they went above and beyond to help us create the most perfect day, and it truly was perfect. We honestly can’t thank them enough. From recommending suppliers (since we lived further away), to answering all our questions, to helping us set up for the big day, they were always there for us. We loved that Ellingham is a two-night wedding venue and that it’s exclusively yours during your stay, which made everything feel so personal and intimate. One of our favourite touches was the Poochie Parlour, our dogs are a huge part of our lives, so having a space for them meant everything to us. We’re really hoping they host another Dine & Stay around Christmas or Valentine’s, any excuse to go back! All our guests had such lovely things to say about the staff and the Hall itself. Thank you again for the most amazing day.

“We can’t begin to thank everyone at Ellingham hall for making our wedding the most beautiful and memorable day.

We got married at the beginning of December and went for a 3 day wedding, Friday-Sunday. Ellingham was transformed into a winter wonderland with its beautiful Christmas decor. The Friday night was so lovely to be able to spend time with all our loved ones together before the big day.

The team were so friendly and really felt like an extension of our wedding party/guests. You’re truly made to feel like the venue is your home. Everyone was so attentive and the whole weekend was stress free and the wedding ran smoothly despite the threat of a storm!

We loved how the wedding day didn’t have to end at 12am and could continue the celebrations into the night in the Hall’s secret club/den which was highlight for us.

We also have to mention how incredible the food was the whole weekend and how easily they catered for our guests dietary requirements.

Everyone who attended the wedding continues to speak about how it was the most beautiful wedding they had experienced. Ellingham hall is truly a magical place and we wish we could do it all again!

What a beautiful venue! Me and my partner just got married at Ellingham and we could not have chosen a better venue. From booking the venue, to our special day everything was just amazing. Staff have been so great with us and were always there to answer any questions we had leading up to our day. Our special day ran smoothly thanks to all the staff here and all the staff were just so nice from start to finish. All our guests commented on how amazing the venue was and how amazing the staff had been with everyone. We cannot thank everyone there enough for helping to make our day so special.

“The venue was immaculately presented and very welcoming. Easy to find just off the A1, with plenty of parking next to the meeting rooms and closer space to unload equipment. The area provided for breakout/coffee/lunch had plenty of room and was a relaxed environment, which gave delegates the chance to meet each other before the conference. The food and drink was plentiful, and of a good standard. The meeting room itself was well equipped and a nice size for our group, not to feel crowded, but also not lost as can happen in large rooms. The staff were on hand all day and happy to help with any of our requests.”
