Kat comes home for her Fairy Tale Wedding!
Kat & Andrew
7th April 2022
When Kat decided to marry at Ellingham Hall it was just like coming home! But this time as a blushing bride for her Fairy Tale Wedding, and not to work behind the scenes.
After gaining work experience with us, Kat came back again and worked at Ellingham Hall. As well as supporting the wedding and events team, she carried out market research which helped her gain valuable experience until she entered the wider world of work.
So, when it came to choosing an exclusive wedding venue in Northumberland, there was only one place to tie the knot with husband Andrew.
It might have been ten years since working at Ellingham Hall, but Kat felt right at home, the minute she entered the picturesque tree-lined driveway.
NOTES FROM THE BRIDE…
What was it like to be back?
It was great to see everybody and meet some new faces. The team were so helpful, and they couldn’t do enough for us, it was just so lovely and relaxed.
What was it like being the bride rather than working behind the scenes?
It was an interesting dynamic really, because I know what goes on in the background. I also know what doors lead to the offices and staff areas, so it was difficult for me not to just go and help myself to things. I couldn’t just wander into the kitchen if I wanted an extra bacon butty as we often did, when I was working at the venue!
You know what happens, then. How was it for you?
Everything has changed so much since I worked at Ellingham Hall. It’s great to see all the wonderful improvements that have been made to the venue, for couples and guests to experience. I know what hard work goes on in the background to ensure everything is perfect, and our wedding ran perfectly. If there were any issues, we had no idea. The team were fantastic, and it was seamlessly smooth. So many guests commented on how smooth the couple of days went.
Was Ellingham Hall the only venue for you?
Absolutely! From the second Andrew proposed there was nowhere else. We didn’t look at any other wedding venue in the North East! Ellingham Hall means so much to me, it’s a fantastic venue and it’s lovely that it means so much to Andrew now.
Any standout moments?
It was walking down the aisle knowing that the pressure was off, and it was now time to celebrate and have a laugh with family and friends.
You have a young baby son, how did you manage on the day?
Having exclusive use was really important to us as we have a young son who was only 3 months old. Having privacy with only our family, close friends and the Ellingham team, was great because he was safe in his pram or in the cot and everyone helped to check in on him and look out for him.
Ten years since you worked here. How has it changed?
The wedding suites and guest bedrooms have all changed a lot, with each room now having its own personality. They all have a lovely modern feel but with all the original features. Outdoors the firepit was great for both day and night and our guests enjoyed sitting around it during the drinks reception.
We also had the After Dark experience to extend the party until 2am, which was not available when I worked at Ellingham Hall. We didn’t tell our guests that we were having it, so it was a nice surprise for them when the bar closed and we said, “We’ve got a surprise for you. Everyone downstairs!”
The After Dark experience is unique to Ellingham Hall and not something you would expect in a Country House Wedding Venue, and it certainly gives your wedding a different edge. Our guests all thought it was fabulous and couldn’t stop talking about it!
