Northumberland wedding venue shortlisted in regional heats of top industry awards

A wedding venue in Northumberland has been shortlisted in the regional heats of a prestigious industry award.

Ellingham Hall has been chosen as a Yorkshire and North East finalist in The Wedding Industry Awards for the best countryside wedding venue of the year.

The shortlisting from dozens of venues comes just weeks after the Hall’s Wedding Co-ordinator, Wendy Sproul, was crowned North East Wedding Co-ordinator of the Year by The Wedding Guide UK in September.

General Manager Anthony Hunter said he was delighted that the Hall had been shortlisted for such a distinguished award.

“When we were told Ellingham Hall had been shortlisted, we were thrilled. The region includes the whole of Yorkshire as well as the North East, so there are lots of countryside venues to compete against. So to be shortlisted is very exciting for us.”

Ellingham Hall is an elegant country house that is set in its own eight-acre estate. Wedding parties can book the entire grounds of the Hall as well as seven luxury cottages for their guests, making it a unique experience.

Anthony added: “We always get amazing feedback from our couples about the Hall and grounds as well as for our hardworking staff. The fact Wendy won an award just last month and we are now shortlisted for this accolade is testament to the effort the entire team puts in to make wedding days special for our couples and their guests.”

The winner of the award will be announced on November 6 at a special awards ceremony in Yorkshire.

“The venue was immaculately presented and very welcoming. Easy to find just off the A1, with plenty of parking next to the meeting rooms and closer space to unload equipment. The area provided for breakout/coffee/lunch had plenty of room and was a relaxed environment, which gave delegates the chance to meet each other before the conference. The food and drink was plentiful, and of a good standard. The meeting room itself was well equipped and a nice size for our group, not to feel crowded, but also not lost as can happen in large rooms. The staff were on hand all day and happy to help with any of our requests.”

Ellingham Hall really is the perfect wedding venue. It has everything you need for a memorable wedding experience. The exclusive wedding package created the perfect 3 day experience for us and our guests. As we and some guests had travelled from Australia, it allowed us to maximise the amount of quality time we spent with our closest family and friends to celebrate our wedding. Throughout our stay, from start to finish. The staff worked so hard. Always calm, well organised, with someone always on hand if needed. Staff constantly and discreetly clearing glasses, plates and guest debris, the rooms always stayed looking plush. On the Big Day, on hand to keep everything running on time and on track. Food service from walking the room with canapés to serving Wedding breakfast and Friday morning breakfast was spot on and professional from a well managed young team.

We arrived on Wednesday afternoon, a very easy and smooth arrival process. Bar was open for the arrival of guests. Rooms were all well appointed with all your tea, coffee needs. We had a great barbecue style evening family buffet with all the guests. Plentiful and tasty. The sitting area near the bar had the bride and grooms playlist in the background for us to enjoy and chat over. The den was used by several guests through to the early hours! . We started Thursday morning with Sausage sandwiches which were great. Bar opened at 11:30 for a swift one before the main event. The room was perfect for the ceremony. Excellent canapés served with a drink whilst the photographs got underway. Wedding breakfast, served in the Chapel again superb quality. We then had a break with a cocktail hour. The mojitos were great. Our evening entertainment started at 7pm for first dance. We had a short break at 9pm to build burgers before we partied on till midnight. Friday morning, Full English breakfast. Again super quality.

“We can’t begin to thank everyone at Ellingham hall for making our wedding the most beautiful and memorable day.

We got married at the beginning of December and went for a 3 day wedding, Friday-Sunday. Ellingham was transformed into a winter wonderland with its beautiful Christmas decor. The Friday night was so lovely to be able to spend time with all our loved ones together before the big day.

The team were so friendly and really felt like an extension of our wedding party/guests. You’re truly made to feel like the venue is your home. Everyone was so attentive and the whole weekend was stress free and the wedding ran smoothly despite the threat of a storm!

We loved how the wedding day didn’t have to end at 12am and could continue the celebrations into the night in the Hall’s secret club/den which was highlight for us.

We also have to mention how incredible the food was the whole weekend and how easily they catered for our guests dietary requirements.

Everyone who attended the wedding continues to speak about how it was the most beautiful wedding they had experienced. Ellingham hall is truly a magical place and we wish we could do it all again!
