Ellingham Hall’s Elegance Inspires Couple’s Wedding

The elegant Hall exterior and the modern, sophisticated styling of the venue proved to be an inspiration when Anthony and Laura Frost chose Ellingham Hall as their ideal North East wedding venue.

While their original plan was for traditional wedding suits for the groom, best man and ushers, the couple decided they needed something more fitting to the Hall.

Anthony explains, “When we were thinking about it, we just thought that the style of Ellingham Hall was very classic but with a modern twist. Wearing a normal wedding suit just didn’t feel right, so we opted for 1950s-style Hollywood glamour.”

Laura says that the classic looks and stunning, modern interior captivated them from the moment they visited.

And while they picked one North East wedding venue each to visit while planning their wedding, Ellingham Hall stole their hearts.

“Anthony had picked Ellingham Hall, and it was the first place we visited,” says Laura. “We fell in love with it straight away!”

NOTES FROM THE BRIDE AND GROOM

What made you choose a wedding in Northumberland?

Anthony: We love that area of the country. It’s not far from where we live in North Shields, so it wasn’t far for us or our guests to travel.

Why did you choose Ellingham Hall?

Anthony: We chose a venue each and I chose Ellingham Hall. We loved the Hall, grounds and the setting but what really mattered to us was the team, who didn’t give us a hard sell. They talked about what we envisioned and explained how the whole venue is yours for two days and that they could tailor everything to what we wanted.

Laura: We were looking for a very personal setting and Ellingham Hall gave us that. It was such a personal experience when we first met the team. We did visit a few more venues after Ellingham Hall but nowhere came close. Anthony chose Ellingham Hall…in fact he also chose most things, but not my dress or the flowers!

Had you heard about Two Night Weddings before?

Anthony: My sister was married some time ago and she arranged a wedding where we stayed the night before. I thought it was great that you got to enjoy the actual wedding day because you’d already met everyone and got to know those you didn’t know well before the ceremony and celebration.

 

Did your Guests enjoy the Wedding Weekend?

Laura: Yes very much. The Night Before broke the ice with a lot of people. Our families have met before, of course, but extended family and friends hadn’t met. From the minute everyone woke up on the morning of our wedding, everyone got along, and the atmosphere was fantastic.

How did you Celebrate the Night Before?

Anthony: We enjoyed an al fresco barbecue on the Chapel patio, and we also had the fire pits lit for a lovely ambience.

Laura: It was really nice because we got married in May and it was warm and dry, thankfully. The weather was perfect. And the children played in the treehouses and on the lawn and enjoyed chasing the peacocks while adults enjoyed eating, drinking and socialising! It felt very relaxed, and the barbecue was delicious. It was lovely because it felt like a celebration before the wedding, we didn’t just turn up, get married then go home!

Tell us about the Ceremony?

Laura: We used the Ceremony Room and had our wedding breakfast in the Chapel.

Anthony: Everyone loved that choice because there was no hanging around waiting for rooms to be turned around.

Laura: And after the ceremony we went outside and enjoyed canapés in the garden before the wedding breakfast, which was lovely. It was different and the whole day just flowed really well. And that was all down to the amazing team at Ellingham Hall. The wedding co-ordinators were just unbelievable. You didn’t know they were there, but everything flowed perfectly.

Did your Guests enjoy it, too?

Anthony: Oh yes. They enjoyed the fact that every guest room was different and really enjoyed having a look around! Family stayed in the cottages, which they loved. It was perfect as they didn’t get woken up by my drunken mates!

 

So, they enjoyed the After Dark Experience?

Laura: Everyone who stayed up for the After Dark Experience thought it was great. They didn’t want it to end, even at 2am! It was the perfect end to a perfect two days. We wish we could do it all again.
