Ellingham Hall has started the year with a bang, having been listed in the ‘top 50 best wedding venues in the UK’ as shared by the Evening Standard.
Created by industry heavyweight Bridebook, the wedding planning platform directory listed Ellingham fifth in the UK above well established names including The Ritz London and Fulham Palace.
Hamish Shepard Founder and CEO of Bridebook said; “ Our team have searched high and low to find the absolute crème de la crème of venues – and these are the best we believe Blighty has to offer for 2020.”
The publication comes as a great start to the year following the success of the venue in 2019 with multiple award wins both on a regional and national scale.

“The hall catered for everything we needed, from the luxury entrance rooms, to the grounds outside, which we used to talk with clients in more detail afterwards. It was exactly what we wanted to allow us to host a presentation of this size. Guests were welcomed with a selection of drinks and canapés in the entrance hall and then again on departure. The seminar itself took place in the Chapel, while the dining room and drawing room provided the perfect spaces clients to relax.

“I have hosted seminars for over 30 years, all over the country at various well-known venues. At Ellingham Hall you remember everything, from the beautiful quirky venue which has retained its historic features, the friendly staff, great service and the delicious food and amazing coffee! The meeting room had good light and was the perfect size for our event. It was lovely to have use of the comfortable reception rooms too for breaks and lunch. I was very impressed with the extra spaces such as the basement games room and rooftop networking terrace. It is a hidden jewel in the North-East and I am planning to return soon for a private family event”

“Wow we don’t even know where to start, as you can imagine we have been in such a bubble ever since our big day. Our wedding day was everything we wished for and more. You guys are just amazing and we can’t thank you all enough, from our first day coming to view to the planning process to our big day, everything just ran so smoothly, you guys have been an absolute credit. Yous have helped us in so many ways. Yous have listened to everything we asked. And our day was beautiful because of that. Not only did we have the most amazing day, our guests did too, we have had so many comments back saying “it’s the best wedding I’ve ever been to” “that is how you do a wedding” “the staff were all amazing” “this venue is stunning” it’s just incredible, very overwhelming but we’ll be forever grateful for that. Big big thank you to you and David for being with us on the morning of our wedding making sure everything is running smoothly. Big big thank you to Alicia for all her help and support. “I booked a lunch party at Ellingham Hall for a very discerning group comprising of generous supporters of a local charity. We were 27 people and we enjoyed a Champagne reception before a delicious three course lunch. Wendy and her team could not do enough for us, our every request was granted. Dietary requirements were very efficiently and creatively dealt with and the result was a most enjoyable event at a price I was very satisfied with. I would definitely use Ellingham Hall again for a function like this.”

“We’ve had so many compliments from family about our wedding. Some of our guests hadn’t heard of Ellingham Hall before our weekend wedding. I think some guests were wondering why they were at a wedding the night before, as a lot of weddings are only one day. But everyone just absolutely loved it. The team at Ellingham were great. Matt received a lot of compliments on the Friday night. Lots of family said how great he was. In fact, there were loads of compliments about the entire team, they all did a fab job. And everyone complimented us on the food. My friend, Joanne, said it was the best wedding food she had ever tasted. We had just under 100 guests during the day of the wedding and that’s a lot of people to serve, especially with the choices. But it was all brilliant.”
