We are delighted to share some special baby news with you this January.
Our Corporate Sales and Marketing Manager, Lynn Sanderson and partner Paul, have welcomed their second child, a beautiful baby boy called George Thomas Layton into the world.
Born on Sunday 5th January, we’re pleased to say both mum and baby are doing great and big brother Harrison is looking after him very well.
At Ellingham Hall, we always like to think of our team as a family. So, we were delighted when we welcomed a new addition to our General Manager’s family late last year. Anthony and his wife, Jane, decided to host their special naming ceremony at the Hall for their beautiful daughter, Theodora.
For everyone here, it was like welcoming a new member of our extended family and we had a wonderful day.
A stunning carousel at the front of the Hall greeted guests as they made their way to the Entrance Hall, where welcome drinks were available, before they headed to their seats for the ceremony.
One of Anthony’s family friends carried out the naming service for ‘Teddy’ who was the star of the show.
There was something for everyone during the day of celebration: children enjoyed the carousel, a bouncy castle, rustic tree houses and explored the grounds. An acoustic singer, magician and photo booth stand offered entertainment for the adults.
The Chapel was decorated by the Whole Sch-Bang event stylists in ivory and pale pink with bunting, silk tablecloths and stunning blossom trees and balloons. Imagery from the day couldn’t have been more perfectly captured by Phil Smith Photography.
Our Head Chef and his team cooked and served a tremendous barbecue, while the sweet-toothed adults (and children, of course) were offered treats from the candy cart along with popcorn and candy floss.
Anthony said: “We had a great afternoon with friends and family, and I want to thank all of the suppliers who helped us to create this very special day.”

It’s only the second month of the year, but we’re starting 2019 on a high!
We’re delighted to officially welcome two new members to our growing team – and we’ve also recently scooped another award.
Firstly, we are delighted that Lynn Sanderson and Rachel Barlow have joined our team in two posts that we have created to help boost our future growth.
Lynn has joined our team as Corporate Sales and Marketing Manager and is looking forward to arranging events for businesses and private parties.
Whether it is for a product launch, conference, team-building or special meetings and events, Lynn will be going out across the region to explain just why Ellingham Hall is the perfect venue.
She says, “Unlike a hotel, if you arrange business events at Ellingham Hall you won’t have to share the venue with other delegates. The exclusivity and flexibility are what differentiate Ellingham from other venues.
“I’m looking forward to meeting businesses across the region and I’m sure they will be excited by what we have to offer.”
Lynn has worked in the events industry for seven years and has been involved in sales and marketing roles in various sectors for 18.
As well as the corporate market, Lynn will be arranging a calendar of events at the Hall to provide opportunities for people to come and enjoy the Hall and its wonderful surroundings, as well as the amazing food from our Head Chef.
In the past, the only way to enjoy the Hall was to be invited as part of a wedding party, but with events including Sunday Lunch for Mother’s Day, an Easter family fun day and a Father’s Day laser clay experience, we’re looking forward to welcoming even more guests throughout the year.
In January Rachel was appointed as Wedding Marketing and Communications Manager to raise further awareness for Ellingham’s first-class wedding service, in the North East and beyond.
Rachel has been working in the marketing and events sector for almost 10 years now and over the last two years has worked exclusively in the wedding industry.
She says, “It’s so great to be starting at a venue which boasts so many gorgeous spaces and with a multi-award winning and experienced team alongside me.
“Ellingham Hall is such a beautiful venue both inside and out. From rooftop terraces and cascading waterfalls, to our spacious reception rooms and historic Chapel, it’s a joy to be part of something really special.”
It’s going to be an exciting year, and we can’t wait to welcome you.
On a final note, we were officially named Northumberland’s Most Outstanding Luxury Wedding Venue in the Global Luxury Hotel & Spa Awards 2019, which is organised by exclusive magazine Lux Life.

We just wanted to say the biggest thank you for giving us the best weekend of our lives. From when we first stepped into Ellingham Hall in June 2022 we knew we wanted to be married there! It is truly the most magical place and the excitement we felt instantly was insane!
Throughout the whole planning process we could not have imagined having a better team to be working with. Communicating with you guys was so easy, and thank you so much for answering my endless questions constantly and reassuring me all the time haha!
The wedding tasting and open houses were fabulous in the build up and we just knew from these that our wedding weekend was going to be amazing!
On that Friday afternoon/evening on our arrival, we felt so comfortable and confident with everyone working at Ellingham. Everyone truly worked so hard to make us feel comfortable and relaxed prior to the big day.
Our wedding day itself was truly the best day of our lives. The way the co-ordinators worked with our suppliers and our plans to make sure everything was perfect was incredible. The food throughout the weekend was absolutely spectacular and we can not believe how insane the cocktails were! The whole venue is so beautiful and elegant and we couldn’t have imagined having our day anywhere else.

“We’ve had so many compliments from family about our wedding. Some of our guests hadn’t heard of Ellingham Hall before our weekend wedding. I think some guests were wondering why they were at a wedding the night before, as a lot of weddings are only one day. But everyone just absolutely loved it. The team at Ellingham were great. Matt received a lot of compliments on the Friday night. Lots of family said how great he was. In fact, there were loads of compliments about the entire team, they all did a fab job. And everyone complimented us on the food. My friend, Joanne, said it was the best wedding food she had ever tasted. We had just under 100 guests during the day of the wedding and that’s a lot of people to serve, especially with the choices. But it was all brilliant.”
