Our original wedding date was booked for 11th July back in 2020. We loved the venue’s intimate atmosphere, exclusivity and fabulous décor and immediately knew it was the venue was for us. Their 2-night wedding experience was just what we were looking for and we loved the idea of being able to have all our family with us the night before and the night of the wedding.
When lockdown hit in April, it became clear our wedding would be impacted by the COVID pandemic. Throughout the national lockdown, the Team at Ellingham communicated with us regularly and were transparent and honest with us from the beginning.
One of the best things about this whole situation was Ellingham allowed us to put a backup date in place a couple of months before our original date was due to take place. This reduced a lot of anxiety/worrying and enabled us to make a decision that was right for us, when it was right for us. There was some relief but also a lot of gratitude to the team at Ellingham for making it possible – we cannot thank the team enough for all they have done for us, when they say they are only a phone call or email away they really mean it. Since the point we moved our date, we have felt excitement towards our new date.
The Ellingham Team have been amazing throughout – they have done their best to accommodate all our needs and requests, and they really do have their couple’s interests and feelings at the core of what they do – I actually feel like I have made some good friends!
Looking to July next year, we really cannot wait to have our closest family and friends around us for a couple of days. We feel we are going to appreciate the happy times so much more. One thing we are the most excited about is the arrival the day before the wedding and having a BBQ with everyone the night before. I also can’t wait to Wendy a big hug!
If there’s any advice we could give to couples finding themselves in the same position, it’s to communicate with your venue and suppliers; if you are not sure what to do- ask them, if you are feeling un easy about something- talk to them. The way Ellingham and our suppliers have been with us has been amazing, we could not ask for anymore. Finally, remember everyone is in the same situation, be patient and kind; the happy times will return.

The Chamber needs local venues that make the North East stand out, and Ellingham Hall is a venue that is a hidden gem.”

“The venue was immaculately presented and very welcoming. Easy to find just off the A1, with plenty of parking next to the meeting rooms and closer space to unload equipment. The area provided for breakout/coffee/lunch had plenty of room and was a relaxed environment, which gave delegates the chance to meet each other before the conference. The food and drink was plentiful, and of a good standard. The meeting room itself was well equipped and a nice size for our group, not to feel crowded, but also not lost as can happen in large rooms. The staff were on hand all day and happy to help with any of our requests.”

You guys are just amazing and we can’t thank you all enough, from our first day coming to view to the planning process to our big day, everything just ran so smoothly, you guys have been an absolute credit. Yous have helped us in so many ways. Yous have listened to everything we asked. And our day was beautiful because of that. “I have hosted seminars for over 30 years, all over the country at various well-known venues. At Ellingham Hall you remember everything, from the beautiful quirky venue which has retained its historic features, the friendly staff, great service and the delicious food and amazing coffee! The meeting room had good light and was the perfect size for our event. It was lovely to have use of the comfortable reception rooms too for breaks and lunch. I was very impressed with the extra spaces such as the basement games room and rooftop networking terrace. It is a hidden jewel in the North-East and I am planning to return soon for a private family event”

“To everyone at Ellingham hall. A massive thank you to you all for such an amazing day! From arriving on Wednesday Debbie and Charlotte looked after us right up to the moment we left. The day was absolutely perfect and was planned to perfection by the Ellingham team, our friends and family have commented on how lovely all of the staff were and could not of done more.
The food was amazing from the sharing boards the night before to the fish and chips we were eating cold at 1am! The venue has so much character and we fell in love with from the second we walked up the driveway on that very first visit.
