We were absolutely delighted when our Wedding Event Team at Ellingham Hall was named the UK’s best in (TWIA) The Wedding Industry Awards.

Picking up the National award at a glittering gala ceremony in London in January was a great start to the year.

And being a TWIA award, makes it even more special, because their judges make their decision on feedback from couples. It is the only client-voted wedding industry awards in the UK.

So, it was a real thrill for every member of our team to know that the work they do is appreciated so highly by our couples. Indeed, their focus on couples is such a priority that some of the team couldn’t pick up their award because they were welcoming another happy couple to their wedding venue in Northumberland.

It was left to three of our management team to represent the Event Team and collect their award. But, as our Head of Weddings Debbie Armstrong, explains, no-one minded because the team’s focus is always on our couples.

Big Achievement for our Event Team!

She says, “Due to a wedding taking place at Ellingham Hall, I was unable to attend the National awards ceremony personally. I sat with my phone in my hand repeatedly refreshing the screen waiting to hear if we had won the TWIA National Event Team of the Year – it was so nerve-racking! When my phone vibrated with the news we had won, it felt amazing.

It has taken three years and a lot of hard work to win this accolade and to know that we have been voted the best in the country, feels a phenomenal achievement!

Debbie adds “It’s not just about choosing the right venue, it’s also about choosing to trust a stranger with one of the most important days of your life. This is both a huge responsibility but also an absolute honour and pleasure. I care about our couples and their Ellingham journey and after reading the feedback from this last year, it is fantastic to see that our couples have had the best of times here. We each play our part in the collective that is Ellingham Hall and the recognition that comes with winning this TWIA Award makes me very proud indeed.”

One Big Family

For Head Chef David Munro, working at Ellingham Hall is not just being part of a team, it’s being part of a family.

He says, “Winning the TWIA award shows how hard all the team works to deliver every wedding at Ellingham Hall. It gives me a great sense of pride to be part of such a special team, which feels more like one big family.

David adds “From planning which canapés to showcase on our Open House events to the attention to all the detail at our complimentary menu tastings, we put our all into every wedding touch point. This provides our couples with an unforgettable experience. The kitchen team and I pride ourselves on serving every table with the same level of enthusiasm and passion as the top table. In our eyes, everyone is a VIP. The fantastic feedback we have received from our couples via TWIA has given us even more determination to achieve this goal.”

Ellingham Hall General Manager David Fordham-Scott, who attended the National awards ceremony, points out that their commitment to couples is what makes him so proud of every member of the team.

As soon as we walked through the doors at Ellingham hall we knew it was going to be our venue, we looked at a few others but always found ourselves comparing them back to Ellingham hall, it had everything we could’ve asked for.
The staff were all amazing throughout from the planning process to the big day, Wendy had us at ease through it all and had all the answers to all our daft questions.

“The venue was immaculately presented and very welcoming. Easy to find just off the A1, with plenty of parking next to the meeting rooms and closer space to unload equipment. The area provided for breakout/coffee/lunch had plenty of room and was a relaxed environment, which gave delegates the chance to meet each other before the conference. The food and drink was plentiful, and of a good standard. The meeting room itself was well equipped and a nice size for our group, not to feel crowded, but also not lost as can happen in large rooms. The staff were on hand all day and happy to help with any of our requests.”

We chose Ellingham Hall due to wanting a full weekend to celebrate such a special moment. We got married at our local church on the Friday before heading up to celebrate Friday night surrounded by all of our family and the following day Saturday surrounded by our friends and family. We wanted a party vibe and we got that. The fact that it was 4 days before Christmas made it even more magical. The Ellingham team went out there way to make sure everything went so smoothly throughout the weekend, nothing was an issue. Special mention to Hannah who was always there to help whenever we needed her. I wish we could relive full weekend again!
