Cloister Cottage

Cloister Cottage is situated in the private Ellingham Hall estate. Embedded in history, the impressive Hall and picturesque grounds are enjoyed by guests for weddings and events. This 2-bedroom cottage set behind the main Hall, is perfect for couples or small families at any time of year. Children can enjoy the rustic treehouse play area and explore local wildlife in our peaceful woodland, whilst the adults can enjoy a short walk to the local pub. Set within the quiet village of Ellingham, this cottage is located near a number of seaside villages and is only a short drive from Northumberland’s unspoiled coastline and some of the finest heritage sites in the country.

“I just wanted to say a huge thank you for the wonderful weekend we had in Cloister Cottage, it was just perfect! It was so well equipped and was lovely to be left the little welcome pack and bottle of wine. We were visited every day by our little peacock friends, amongst others. It’s such a lovely peaceful and remote venue, just my cup of tea! I was disappointed we could not look around the main Hall due to a private wedding celebration, but I will certainly let you know if I am in the area again. I think they have so much going for them that other self-catering properties don’t. It’s a home from home, with washing machine, ironing board and a fully equipped kitchen. Not having to bring all those little things that I usually take just in case (i.e. tea towels, washing up liquid etc.) is a big plus for me.”

Kitchen/Dining Room: Range Master oven with gas hob, electric oven, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, cutlery, crockery, pans, dining table and chairs with Freeview TV. Access via French doors to front private garden.

“I booked a lunch party at Ellingham Hall for a very discerning group comprising of generous supporters of a local charity. We were 27 people and we enjoyed a Champagne reception before a delicious three course lunch. Wendy and her team could not do enough for us, our every request was granted. Dietary requirements were very efficiently and creatively dealt with and the result was a most enjoyable event at a price I was very satisfied with. I would definitely use Ellingham Hall again for a function like this.”

“The venue was immaculately presented and very welcoming. Easy to find just off the A1, with plenty of parking next to the meeting rooms and closer space to unload equipment. The area provided for breakout/coffee/lunch had plenty of room and was a relaxed environment, which gave delegates the chance to meet each other before the conference. The food and drink was plentiful, and of a good standard. The meeting room itself was well equipped and a nice size for our group, not to feel crowded, but also not lost as can happen in large rooms. The staff were on hand all day and happy to help with any of our requests.”
