Choosing a Two Night Wedding Venue is a No-Brainer!

25th May 2023

Two Night Wedding

Georgia & Gareth

18th March 2023

The idea of a Two Night Wedding may not be an obvious choice for some, but Georgia Oman says don’t doubt it, because it’s something she’d highly recommend to any couple.

When Georgia and Gareth first visited Ellingham Hall, they had never heard of anyone taking over a wedding venue for a Two Night Wedding Experience before.

“We thought it was an unusual idea, and we’d never considered it before. But since our wedding, we’ve realised it’s a no-brainer – even if, like us, you’re both local,” she comments.

The couple, who live just 12 miles from Ellingham, were also unsure whether their families would want to choose to stay for two nights. Georgia explains, “We weren’t sure if people would stay as, it’s so close, but we were wrong to think that. Everybody was there for the two nights, and it was fantastic because we got to make the most of our weekend wedding celebration. And it meant everyone relaxed the night before and got to know each other.”

NOTES FROM THE BRIDE

Why we chose Ellingham Hall

We’d already visited one venue before we viewed Ellingham Hall. We had some others lined up, but we just knew as soon as we stepped through the door, that we’d found the perfect venue and didn’t visit any others. We both said, “Yeah, this is definitely the one.”

Why did you choose March for your wedding?

We were given a few available dates, but we ended up choosing the same day as my grandad’s birthday. He’s no longer with us so being able to choose that date was special. It really felt like he was with us during our wedding celebration.

How was the Weather?

It was slightly damp, but it didn’t spoil our day. That’s one of the best assets of Ellingham Hall: it’s so nice both inside and out that you’ll have a great day whatever the weather as there’s plenty of spaces to enjoy. And you’ll get perfect photographs no matter what it does.

What about the fact it gets Dark early in March?

It worked perfectly for us because we wanted a sparkler reception. It was great fun, and we also used the fire pit on both nights, because it stayed dry each evening. That was fantastic and very atmospheric.

You chose the Chapel for both your Ceremony and Wedding Breakfast?

We preferred the Chapel as it’s so grand and impressive. That’s the thing with Ellingham Hall, you have so many Ceremony Spaces to choose from, that you can really make the wedding your own and choose what’s the best fit for you.

But we thought the Chapel was really lovely, it’s like having a Church Wedding without a Church!

So how did the Transformation go?

It was amazing. When we decided we wanted to use the Chapel for our ceremony, we were told it would be a circa two-hour turnaround from the Ceremony to the Wedding Breakfast, I thought it would be too long for everyone to hang around. But we hadn’t considered the time it takes to have photographs taken and then re-joining our guests to enjoy a relaxing Drinks Reception – the timing was perfect!

What was your inspiration for having Books as Tables Centres?

Well, we both read a lot, so we chose book titles as table names! Wendy at Ellingham Hall styled the room for us and made paper roses out of the pages from the books. It was amazing that she went that one step further to make us feel extra special. It sums up the attention to detail from the Ellingham Hall Team.

Gareth’s a Chef, so how did he rate your Wedding Breakfast?

He loved it, in fact we both loved it. I couldn’t recommend the food highly enough. Everyone enjoyed it and commented on how tasty and beautifully presented it was.

You chose the After Dark Experience. How was that?

Our guests loved the After Dark, it was really a special, extra little surprise for those who wanted to party until 2am!

What was the Best Part of your Day?

It’s hard to say as everything was so good. But I’d probably say the Ceremony and sharing the day with our friends and family. I loved seeing the Chapel transformed, too!

What’s your Advice to Couple’s planning a Wedding?

Get a good photographer and videographer because the wedding’s over so quickly that you’re just left with memories. Being able to look at photos and watch your day back means you get a different perspective from the day. Also, don’t try to please everyone. It’s YOUR special day!
