A poignant moment makes woodland wedding special!

31st July 2022

Emma & Jack

18th April 2022

Being able to spend time in the beautiful woodland set in the 8 acres of Ellingham Halls private grounds was an especially poignant  moment for Jack and Emma.

Emma says, “I lost my dad four years ago, who was a forester. There’s always a link to the oak tree in our family, so it felt really special to be in the woodland at Ellingham Hall, it was like dad was part of the day as well. I tried very hard not to cry; it was quite emotional.”

For both Emma and Jack, being able to spend some time together, before the photographer started taking their portrait shots, was another reason that the woodland was a special place for them.

Notes from the Bride

“Just having a walk through the woods made it feel like we were in a completely different place to the busyness of the Hall, where all our family and friends were gathering. I love being in peaceful woodland and it was definitely a bonus for me,” Jack explains.

“The Ellingham team were so keen for us to have that time away from the hustle and bustle,” adds Emma. “It was really nice that they took us away to have that bit of alone time with each other to reflect just after the ceremony and before the rest of the wedding celebration.”

With a nod from recommended photographer Dru Dodd, Ellingham Hall’s team pulled out all the stops. The Ellingham Hall maintenance worked to make urgent repairs to the woodland bridge, and clear debris before Jack and Emma’s wedding. Storm Arwen and subsequent Storm Dudley had wreaked havoc in the picturesque grounds, leading to a major clear up operation. This helped ensure Jack and Emma were able to enjoy their memorable moment.

They both say they were not the only ones to be impressed with their wedding venue, their guests could not have been more complimentary!

“Everyone was absolutely buzzing about it from start to finish,” says Emma. “They just couldn’t say nicer things about the venue, the day itself, and how relaxed and chilled things were. We had compliments about the staff, just how kind they were and how accommodating and welcoming. Literally every word that’s been said about the wedding has been positive.

While the couple live in Northumberland, guests travelled from around the world including America, Switzerland and Germany to attend our wedding venue. Even those closer to home appreciated having exclusive use of Ellingham Hall.

“My mam and dad stayed in one of the cottages and they picked it because it was like a really homely, nice place to be. They said it felt like a bit of a holiday as well,” explains Jack.

Having exclusive use of the venue was another reason their wedding felt so special, the couple say.

Jack says, “Other venues are usually churning out wedding after wedding, with sometimes two or three on the same day. We wanted the place to ourselves because we knew we were going to have lots of our friends and family there and we wanted it to be a special and intimate celebration.”

“We didn’t want to see random people walking past. We wanted it to be about us and our family and our friends and not have anybody else there,” adds Emma.
