Food and Drink

 

We will provide catering and beverage packages for you on your wedding day.  Throughout the rest of your stay we can have as much or as little involvement as you wish. 

 

 Chris Allison, our Executive Head Chef, has over 15 years experience in the hospitality industry.  He trained at the Newcastle Marriott Gosforth Park and Heathcotes in Leeds.  Chris went on to several top quality establishments in Manchester, Scotland and London.  In the North East Chris has been Head Chef at many prestigious restaurants including ‘Fishermans Lodge, ‘Charleys Bistro’, ‘The Ivy House’, ‘Treacle Moon’, Six@Baltic’, and Fresh Element before coming to join us here at Ellingham Hall.

·         Chenin Blanc, Veldt Range – South Africa                                                                             £12.95

A really well balanced wine: aromas of melon and lychees with soft

tropical fruit flavours on the palate and an elegant refreshing acidity

on the finish.

 

·         Sauvignon Blanc, Las Condas – Chile                                                                                       £13.50

Floral with elderflower notes and a grassy quality with crisp acidity

and a touch of citrus fruit on the finish.  This is a dry white wine with

a medium body.

 

·         Pinot Grigion, La Casada – Italy                                                                                                                £13.95

What can we say, great Pinot Grigion –fresh and crisp with an appley melon twist. 

Everything you would expect in a Pinot Grigio and a lot more!

 

·         Semillon Chardonnay, Jacobite Ridge – Australia                                                                              £14.95

Classic Australian blend with smooth richness from the Semillon grape and body, freshness and delicious tropical fruit and pineapple notes provided by the Chardonnay.

 

·         Chardonnay Reserva, Santa Ema – Chile                                                                                               £17.00

Fresh and full with apple, ripe pear and tropical fruit notes.  It is an intense and

structured wine that fills the mouth, and is at the same time elegant and

sophisticated.

 

·         Sauvignon Blanc, Three Stones – New Zealand                                                                   £19.50

A zesty and delicious wine.  Flavours of passion fruit and gooseberry combine

with mouth-watering acidity, creating a truly refreshing wine.

·         Merlot, Las Condas – Chile                                                                                                           £12.95

An attractive nose with ripe red and stone fruits overlaid with a herbal quality. 

On the palate these develop to show ripe plum and prune flavours with an

accessible structure.

 

·         Rioja Joyen, Vina Amate – Spain                                                                                               £14.95

A simple but very enjoyable example of a young Rioja.  Vibrant purple colour. 

Made from 100% Tempranillo.  An easy drinking wine with hints of bright fruity

notes of black cherry and plum.

 

·         Malbec, Obvio – Argentina                                                                                                          £16.95

This encapsulates the vibrancy and soul of Argentinean life.  It excites the eye with

its deep violet tones, and tangoes on the palate with an array of red and black fruits.

 

·         Cotes du Rhone Rouge, Parcelles 38, Vignobles Jerome Quiot – France                    £18.25

A blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre, full flavoured and having the structure

to support the ample fruit.  Delicious!

 

·         Shiraz, Red Earth – Australia                                                                                                       £18.50

A round and plush deep purple Shiraz with a delicious forward style.  Subtle toasty

 vanilla oak, spices and supple tannins underpin the lingering chocolate and berry

flavours of the complex and elegant shining fruit.

Superior Pinot Noir, with grippy tannins, yet bags of big, serious Pinot Noir fruit.

Vibrant pink with amazing floral aromas, this wine has a distinct freshness.

This is the traditional ‘Clairette’ where the original name of Claret comes from. 

Lovely deep pink red in colour, with soft and full blackcurrant fruit.

Wonderfully dry, crisp and refreshing sparkling wine from Northern Italy.  Citrus

and apple notes dominate the palate, an elegant mousse and finish make this wine

·         Champagne Polivert Jacques Brut NV – France                                                                  £29.95

Subtle and elegant with floral aromas and a freshness and harmony which is ideal

served as an aperitif but can be enjoyed throughout the meal.

 

·         Louis Roederer Brut NV – France                                                                                               £45.00

One of the most prestigious of all Champagne houses.  Founded in 1776 and still in

family hands the house style is rounded, rich and complex due to the high

proportion of aged wines included in the blend.
